Peter Attia (Author)

Peter Attia (b. 1973), MD, is a Canadian American physician. His research focuses on improving people’s overall health and extending their lifespan and healthspan. Attia received his medical degree from Stanford University's School of Medicine.

Attia first became interested in longevity while he was a medical resident at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the cancer ward. He grew increasingly disillusioned about modern medicine’s ability to treat cancer since it always seemed too late (i.e., cancer was already well-embedded in the person’s body). He quit his residency and went to work for McKinsey & Company in their credit risk department. This experience changed his outlook on medicine. Attia began to develop his own version of medicine, which he calls Medicine 3.0. In contrast to Medicine 2.0, which focuses on treatment, Medicine 3.0 focuses on prevention.

Attia is the founder of Early Medical, which is a medical practice that applies the Medicine 3.0 principles to patients with the goal of helping them achieve their longevity objectives. He is also the host of The Drive, which is a popular podcast that covers medicine and health topics.
